PROMOTING LESSON STUDY AS ONE OF THE WAYS FOR MATHEMATICS TEACHERS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN INDONESIA

The Reflection on Japanese Good Practice of Mathematics Teaching Through VTR, 2002-2005

Learning study of mathematics can use some method,each one is uses VTR.VTR (Video Tape Recorder) where its can use to show figure or description of lesson. Uses VTR in lesson study give you some benefits as: a) short summary of the lesson with emphasis on major problems in the lesson, b) components of the lesson and main events in the class, and, c) possible issues for discussion and reflection with teachers observing the lesson (Marsigit :2006).VTR can become a method evaluation study in class. We know that in Lesson Study is divided into three parts: a)planning the lesson, b) the observation part, and, c) the discussion and reflection part.

As teacher mathematics we need observation in depth learning process of class. Habits of student,conditional of class,method of study in class,etc.That need evaluation come more good again. If we observe teaching learning processes through VTR, a short summary is necessary to grasp the contents and we need to observe the VTR several times to understand its contents clearly.Having done this, it may arrise the usefull issues for discussion and reflection as well as to reflection good practices, good lessons or innovative lessons for the reform of mathematics education(Marsigit : 2006).

The Implement mathematics theacher profesional can uses the method with VTR as media of learning. But teachers need to improve their competencies of teaching and competencies of teaching contents and time allocation which enough.

Meanwhile, to come mathematics teachers professional development in indonesia ,teacher need support for schools and government . Support their professional development including the chance to get training, to participate the conferences, to participate in teachers club.
